Privacy Policy – The NO App

This policy explains what data The NO App ("the App") collects, how it is used, which third parties receive it, and your rights. This policy satisfies the Apple App Store, Google Play, GDPR, UK‑GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and PIPEDA requirements.

a) Anonymous Usage Analytics

Provided by Google Firebase Analytics. Includes: app events (phrases played, features opened, purchases made), Firebase Instance ID (pseudonymous), app version, device model, OS version, device language, time zone, and approximate region derived from IP at the time of the event. The IP itself is not stored.

b) Crash and Error Diagnostics

Provided by Sentry. Includes: stack traces, device model, OS version, and limited app‑state breadcrumbs (e.g., the last screen viewed before a crash). No user‑entered text is included.

c) Push Notification Token

If you accept notification permission, an anonymous Expo push token is sent to our servers so we can deliver engagement notifications. The token is not linked to your identity.

d) Purchase Events

When you make an in‑app purchase, RevenueCat and the app store (Apple or Google) process the transaction. We receive the product identifier and purchase result only; we do not receive your payment details.

e) Device Locale

Read to display prices in your local currency. Not transmitted to our servers.

f) Survey Responses

Any language‑preference answers collected on first launch are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted to our servers.

4. Voice Cloning (Biometric Data)

If you opt in to Voice Cloning, your voice recording is transmitted to Inworld AI (a US‑based provider) for voice‑model creation. Voice recordings and their derived characteristics may qualify as biometric data under GDPR, CCPA, and BIPA.

You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your voice clone in My Voice under Voice Settings.

Enterprise TTS providers process text as data processors under contractual obligations not to retain or repurpose it. Audio generated from these services is cached on our servers without any personal identifier.

7. International Data Transfers

Our backend and most third‑party processors are located in the United States. If you access the App from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Canada, or another jurisdiction with data‑export restrictions, your data will be transferred to the US under appropriate safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses where required).

Legal bases for processing (GDPR Art. 6): Legitimate interest (analytics, crash reporting, push tokens), Consent (voice cloning, notifications), and Contract performance (in‑app purchases).

9. Data Security

We use TLS 1.2+ for all data in transit. Server access is restricted to authorized personnel. Voice cloning data is processed under contractual data‑processing agreements with our processors.

10. Children's Privacy

The App is rated appropriate for all ages but is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we learn that we have done so, we will delete it promptly. Contact us at thenoapp@leadinglabs.ca with any concerns.

11. Notifications

If you enable push notifications, you may disable them at any time in your device settings. No personal identifier is tied to the push token.

We may update this policy. Material changes (such as new data collected or new processors) will be announced in‑app and will require re‑consent where required by law. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.

Welcome to The NO App Support Center. Below you'll find answers to the most common questions and a direct contact link for anything we haven't covered. We strive to reply to every email within 1–2 business days.

1. Getting Started

What is The NO App?

The NO App is a multilingual phrase library that helps you say "NO" assertively, politely, or playfully — in several languages with realistic AI voices. Tap any phrase tile to hear it spoken, build your own custom tiles, or share NO videos to any chat app.

Do I need an account?

No. The app works immediately when you open it. There's no sign-up, no email required, no password to remember. Your purchases are tied to your Apple ID or Google account.

Does it work offline?

Yes. After the first time you tap a phrase, that phrase's audio is cached on your device so you can hear it again without an internet connection. Phrase text and your custom phrases are always available offline.

2. Voices & Audio

How many voices are there?

Up to 11 voices per language. With over 67 languages, that's 600+ unique voice options total.

I can't hear anything when I tap a phrase. What's wrong?

Why does some audio sound robotic or rushed in certain languages?

We use enterprise-grade AI voice providers, but pronunciation quality varies slightly by language and provider. We're constantly upgrading voices — if a specific phrase sounds off, please email us with the language, voice name, and phrase text and we'll re-render it.

3. Voice Cloning (Premium)

How do I clone my voice?

Go to Voice Settings → My Voice → Try It Free. You'll record a short audio sample (~15 seconds total). Within about 30 seconds your clone will be ready, and you can select it as your active voice on any phrase tile.

Is my voice recording stored on your servers?

No. Your raw voice samples are sent directly to our voice provider (Inworld AI) for clone creation. They are never stored on Leading Labs servers. The resulting voice clone is bound to your device. See the Privacy Policy above for full details.

How do I delete my voice clone?

Go to Voice Settings → My Voice → Delete. Deletion is immediate and irreversible — we send a deletion request to Inworld AI on your behalf.

The voice doesn't sound like me. Can I retrain it?

Yes. Delete the existing clone and re-record. Tips for a better clone:

4. Purchases & Subscriptions

What does Premium unlock?
How do I restore my purchases on a new device?

Open the app, go to Settings → Restore Purchases, and sign in with the same Apple ID or Google account you used originally. Your premium status will be re-applied within seconds.

How do I cancel my subscription?

All purchases are one-time only payments. There are no Subscription and thus, nothing to cancel.

I was charged but didn't get Premium. What do I do?

First, tap Settings → Restore Purchases. If that doesn't work, email us at thenoapp@leadinglabs.ca with your receipt (from your Apple or Google account email) and we'll resolve it within 1–2 business days.

How do I request a refund?

Refunds are processed by Apple or Google, not by us:

5. Troubleshooting

The app crashes when I open it
  1. Force-quit the app (swipe up and away on iOS, or recent-apps tray on Android)
  2. Reopen the app
  3. If it still crashes, restart your device
  4. If it still crashes, uninstall and reinstall (your purchases will be restored when you tap "Restore Purchases")
  5. If none of that works, email us with your device model + OS version
Phrases I downloaded are missing after reinstalling

Custom phrases are stored locally on your device and will be lost on uninstall. Premium purchases (language packs, voice cloning entitlement) survive reinstalls — tap Settings → Restore Purchases to re-sync.

6. Privacy & Data

What data do you collect?

Only anonymous usage analytics and crash reports. We do not collect your name, email, contacts, location, or any personally identifying information. Full details in the Privacy Policy above.

How do I opt out of analytics?

Go to Settings → Disable Analytics. This stops all anonymous event collection on your device.

How do I request deletion of my data?

Email thenoapp@leadinglabs.ca with the subject "Data Deletion Request" and we'll process it within 30 days as required by GDPR and CCPA.
